Dr Muhammad Tahir Tabassum An energetic activist for human rights, peace, dialogue, interfaith harmony, education and coexistence since 27 years, he had rich expertise in media development, security, social cohesion and very influential in government, army and establishment institutions. he started working on a think tank platform called the Institute of Peace and Development (INSPAD) in 17 January 1995. Time is active in many countries of the world, with more than 6000 peace ambassadors and 13,000 representatives/members working for peace, harmony and human rights around the world. The organization is registered in Pakistan, Belgium and the United Nations and have special observer status in Palestinain people rights in UN.
INSPAD is active in collaboration with a number of influential international organizations in many fields.
Mr Tahir Tabassum received hundreds of awards, medals and certificates from worldwide organisations included Quaid-e-Azam Gold Medal, Allama Iqbal and Bahadur Yar Jang Awards and Sitara Samaj (Social Star) in 1998 by old eminent social Organisation founded by Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Founder of Pakistan) Pakistan Social Association. He was the Senior Vice President of the Human Rights Association of Pakistan from 1981-89 and played a vital role in raising awareness and promoting human rights across the country through this platform. He has been awarded the Ambassador of Peace in 2010 by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF-USA) for his effective social, human rights and peace services.
He was awarded the Human Rights Excellence Award from the Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2010, On his long services, he had masters in international politics from university of Paris and the ASEAN University of Indonesia has awarded him an honorary doctorate in Human Rights and Peace Diplomacy. He get four honorary Doctorates degrees from different countries.
He was appointed by the United Nations as Ambassador to Interfaith Harmony week in 2015. He has been writing thousands of columns, reports and research articles on important topics such as human rights, peace and Muslims problems in national and international media and newspapers for 30 years. And his organisation represented at several major UN conferences and meetings in New York and Geneva. He has also been the Press Secretary and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Human Rights in the Azad Kashmir government and the author of published three books, while the research book "History of the Saints of Kashmir" is in the final stages of publication. His organization has been campaigning vigorously against global conspiracies to link Islam to terrorism and has been active since day one for a peaceful solution and the right to self-determination.
He has edited several newspapers and published his own weekly Istehkam Rawalakot for two years. He was the director of the Kashmir Center New York for two years (1989-1992)and held dozens of successful protests, conferences and met delegations to the United Nations to highlight the Kashmir issue. And briefed US public opinion bodies and the media on the Kashmir dispute.
Under his leadership, INSPAD organized 8 international conferences on Kashmir, Palestine, human rights and interfaith dialogue and harmony in Belgium, House of Commons London United Kingdom, Pakistan and also in mirpur Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot in Azad Kashmir. Peace Awards are given annually by INSPAD to eminent worldwide personalities who have excelled in various fields since 2000.
