MANUEL SALVADOR LEYVA MARTINEZ

Born in the city of Chilpancingo, Gro. (Mexico) on January 15, 1930, the son of Nicolás Leyva Vélez and Lorenza Martínez Pólito.- made his Primary and Secondary education in his hometown and secondary and higher education in the City of Mexico, where he studied Political and Social Sciences at UNAM
He began to work as a journalist in Chilpancingo in "The Journal of Guerrero" first newspaper of the State in 1947, In 1954 he moved to Mexico City to work  as editor and publicist in the "Excelsior" National Journal, later was a reporter for the Journal "New "and" La Prensa ", also writer in Magazines" Presence "," image "," Review of Reviews "and" province ".
In political activity since 1953 he worked as Coordinator and / or Governmental Advisory campaigns, government official in six State Administrations, Federal Commissioner for Tourism, Maritime Customs and Traffic; Was delegated Local Deputy, Councilor for Culture and Public Services in the city of Acapulco 1996-1999. The book "Horizonte and Nearness of MANUEL S.LEYVA MARTINEZ" Doctor in Spanish Literature, José Rodríguez Salgado, contains his academic and political career until 1989.

His poetry from 1943 to date, has bestowed a deserved place in the Guerrero Parnassus as the Poet Laureate more as evidence graduate of the Congress of the Union in 1988 - His name appears in anthologies and encyclopedias Art and Culture and his poetry, nationally and internationally awarded, is published by cultural and governmental institutions of government in 5 books; taking in press texts Poetry, Fiction and Essays - Was awarded in 6 events worldwide, two of them by the World Academy of Art and Culture, by whose merit is Life Member.

Leyva Martinez has received scrolls, diplomas and scallops in Mexico, Korea, Japan, Italy, Greece, Peru and China. He was President of the XIX World Congress of Poets 1999, the first Great Literary Event of the American continent from Acapulco. In December 2004 he received the "Golden Laurel" in Spain, as a promoter of universal poetry.
Guerrero government gave him twice the medals "Juan Ruiz de Alarcón" (1991) and "Ignacio M. Altamirano" (2004) and the municipalities of Acapulco and Tijuana have declared "Distinguished Citizen". Currently listed as Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the International Society of Poets, Writers and Artists, AC, with matrix in Acapulco and branches in several cities in Mexico and is Chairman of the Meritorious Mexican Society of Geography and Statistics, corresponding Tijuana. In September 2006 will be awarded the "Golden Laurel Wreath" ,as universal poet laureate in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, during the Closing Gala of the XXVI World Congress of Poets of the World Academy of Arts and Culture, a subsidiary of UNESCO.
